Freshwater Phil's shore fishing spots

Musky

Musky fishing is the top of the Freshwater big game fishing mountain, in most of their range. Muskies are the top freshwater predator in this part of the country. Muskies grow to record sizes in both the St Lawrence and Ottawa rivers, 2 of the waterways bordering the island of Montreal. Both are world class fisheries for trophy musky fishing. They are also quite larger boats to effectively fish these big waterways, and highly specialized equipment is required to fish them properly. Stout rods are used to either troll or cast a variety of oversized musky lures like crankbaits, big tubes, cowgirls (double inline spinners), and giant topwater lures. Musky hunters prefer to fish major and minor periods, as these daily moon related times are prime. As well, early morning and late evenings during the summer can be prime musky fishing times.
